Occupational Health and Safety Congress

Occupational health and safety is not merely a technical field of regulation; it is a fundamental human right directly related to the right to life, human dignity, and safe working conditions. The fact that occupational accidents and occupational diseases are largely preventable further increases the importance of policies and collaborative solutions based on scientific knowledge in this field.

Healthcare workers are among the most at-risk occupational groups, facing not only physical, chemical, biological, and psychosocial risks, but also heavy workloads and the threat of violence. This situation directly affects not only the health of employees but also the quality of healthcare services and patient safety. Protecting the occupational health and safety of healthcare workers should therefore be addressed as a comprehensive public health priority.

Trade unions, as the organized voice of workers, play a critical role in establishing safe working environments, raising awareness, and strengthening mechanisms of social dialogue. Scientific congresses, on the other hand, provide important platforms for the sharing of up-to-date knowledge, the dissemination of good practices, and the development of multidisciplinary collaboration.

With this understanding, the Occupational Health and Safety Congress will be held on 20–21 May 2026 in Ankara, hosted by the Öz Sağlık-İş Trade Union Headquarters.

The main theme of the congress is:
“Sustainable Working Environments”

Within the scope of the congress, scientific sessions, panel discussions, and paper presentations will be organized, and the risks faced by healthcare workers will be addressed in the light of scientific evidence.
